The Process Engineer role focuses on the following accountabilities:
– Effective and efficient scoping, design, and implementation of process improvement projects.
– Ownership for reliability and maintenance engineering best practices for all process systems.
– Support process area supervisors with continuous improvement plans.
– Steward of process engineering standards for all equipment, documentation, and systems in the process.
Essential Job Functions & Responsibilities
· Evaluate manufacturing processes by designing and conducting research, applying knowledge of product design, fabrication and materials as well as soliciting observations from technicians
· Conduct data analysis to identify improvement opportunities, maintain departmental performance metrics, manage, and deliver cost reduction, efficiency improvement and capacity expansion projects
· Determine root causes of failures using statistical methods and recommend changes in designs, tolerances, or processing methods
· Provide a timely response to manufacturing difficulties, to trouble shoot possible causes and coordinate the activities of maintenance, production personnel, and other available resources to implement cost effective solutions
· Recognize potential problems with existing equipment and develop solutions with the ability to adapt to various engineering designs, applications, and process criteria
· Participate on product and new process development teams, making recommendations of manufacturing feasibility and evaluating expenditures
· Possess strong sense of ownership and accountability for the success and failure of continuous improvement efforts and for the economic return on those activities
· Ensures compliance with company policies and procedures and supports company mission, values, and standards of ethics and integrity
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
· Preventive and predictive maintenance techniques.
· Continuous improvement process methodologies – PDCA
· Awareness of general process standards and how to implement and sustain processes of standards.
Working Conditions
This position will be located in an office setting. However, responsibilities will include being in an industrial process environment as often as required. Limited travel may be required.
Education, Training, and Experience Required
· BS Mechanical/Chemical/Industrial Engineering
· Familiarity with all major engineering disciplines, specific mechanical equipment and components
· 3-year minimum industrial experience
· Project management skills, process improvement skills (six sigma)
· Strong written and verbal communication skills
· Ability to interact with employees at all levels within the organization
· Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office applications
