Quality Engineer

Brief Job Description

• Work closely with the Regional Quality Manager to maintain and continually improve the business unit’s quality management systems.
• Supervise day to day Quality Control Laboratory operations

Essential Job Functions & Responsibilities

• Support a safety and quality-oriented culture within the company
• Support manufacturing processes and assists with process/product troubleshooting as needed

o Provide support to production supervisors/engineers to ensure quality goals are being met

• Supports development of systems and processes within the scope of the quality management systems

o Review risk and opportunity data to mitigate risks and/or realize opportunities.

o Conduct process audits to drive continuous improvements using of quality tools (reduce scrap, product defects, process variation, and manufacturing risks).

o Systematize continuous improvement within processes and utilize KPIs and metrics to assess effectiveness.

o Oversee and participate in the development of control plans

o Work closely with production, warehouse, R&D, maintenance, and QC to understand new products and the details necessary to integrate them into the quality system.

o Periodically conduct product and process validations.

o Develop and manage systems for statistical process control.

o Evaluate process control planning and execution to ensure requirements are met, verified, and adequately documented.

o Maintain, monitor, and report performance against quality objectives.

o Train all employees on quality procedure; maintain training records.

• Supports non-conformance and corrective action processes

o Oversee all quality audits, maintain records of audits, and coordinate response/closure to findings

o Promote the 8D problem solving methodology throughout the organization

o Reviews, evaluates, and investigates product or process rejections, obtains disposition, identify root cause, and implements corrective action as needed

o Interfaces with customers, vendors, and various company departments to resolve quality problems and provide information/technical support

• Other duties as assigned by management.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

• Strong knowledge of MS Office Products
• Ability to create custom spreadsheets and database
• Strong problem-solving skills and root cause analysis experience using various analysis tools (FMEA, 5 Why, Fishbone, other)
• Strong interpersonal and communicative skills
• High degree of attention to detail
• Handling multiple responsibilities and job tasks (multi-tasking) as needed.
• Organized and able to work with minimum supervision
• Primarily day shift position but available as needed for troubleshooting
• Physical demands – the physical demands listed here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of the job. The employee must occasionally lift and or move 50 pounds. The employee must be able to climb stairs and work from heights.

Working Conditions

• Must live within a reasonable commute from our Lansdale, PA plant location. The incumbent must be able to handle a challenging personal schedule with hours and demands changing from week to week. Daily activity will include working in both office and manufacturing locations.
• Occasionally aid in supplier audits and/or sister company audits.

Education, Training, and Experience

• Recommended B.S. in Engineering or similar field
• 3-5 years of experience in a chemical manufacturing plant desired
• Understanding of the ISO9001 standard
• Understanding of the RCMS/ISO14001 standard desired but not required
• cGMP experience desired but not required.
